Careers

Build the systems that run companies.

Not demos. Not decks. Systems with real authority inside real businesses, where being wrong is expensive and being right is measurable. If that sounds like pressure rather than fun, we are probably not the right place.

What it is like here

Six things that are true, including the demanding ones.

Written so you can rule us out quickly if it does not fit. That is a legitimate outcome and it saves everyone a fortnight.

Seniority means responsibility, not distance

Our principals write code and sit in client sessions. Nobody here graduates out of the work into a purely commercial role.

You will be trusted early

You will own a system, talk directly to the client who depends on it, and have the authority to say no. Support is available; permission is assumed.

We protect focus

Two meeting-light days a week, asynchronous by default, and a genuine expectation that you are offline when you are off.

Learning is scheduled, not aspirational

Ten percent of your time is yours for research, certification or open-source work, with a budget attached rather than a slogan.

We hire for judgement

Tool knowledge is teachable. The ability to tell a client something they do not want to hear, kindly and with evidence, is what we interview for.

Distributed, deliberately

Remote-first across North America and Europe, with quarterly gatherings that are worth flying for. Where you live is not a career variable.

The package

Specific numbers, not adjectives.

Every benefit below is written the way it appears in our handbook. If something is a range, we say so rather than calling it competitive.

  • Salary benchmarked to the top quartile, reviewed annually and published internally in bands
  • Genuinely flexible hours, remote-first across North America and Europe
  • Ten percent research time with an annual learning budget
  • Full health, dental and vision cover for you and your dependants
  • Home office allowance and hardware you actually choose
  • Minimum four weeks leave, and we track that you take it
  • Parental leave of sixteen weeks at full pay for every parent
  • Quarterly in-person gatherings with travel covered

Open roles

Six roles. All senior, all remote.

We hire for judgement over tool knowledge. If you are close but not exact on the requirements, apply anyway and tell us which part you would need to learn.

Senior AI Engineer

Agent SystemsRemote · North America / EuropeFull time

Design and ship agent systems that hold real authority inside client operations — planning loops, tool interfaces, evaluation harnesses and the guardrails that make autonomy defensible.

What we are looking for

  • Production experience with LLM applications beyond prototypes
  • Strong Python or TypeScript, and opinions about evaluation you can defend
  • Comfort explaining a technical trade-off to a sceptical CFO
Apply for this role

Staff Platform Engineer

Cloud & ReliabilityRemote · North America / EuropeFull time

Build and operate the platforms our client systems run on: Kubernetes, Terraform, progressive delivery and the observability that makes 3am survivable.

What we are looking for

  • Deep Kubernetes and infrastructure-as-code experience at scale
  • Track record reducing cloud cost without reducing reliability
  • A bias toward deleting complexity rather than adding abstraction
Apply for this role

Security Engineer, Detection & Response

SecurityRemote · North AmericaFull time

Detection engineering, autonomous triage design and purple-team validation for client security operations — including attacking the AI systems we build.

What we are looking for

  • Detection engineering experience across identity, endpoint and cloud
  • Familiarity with MITRE ATT&CK as a working tool, not a poster
  • Interest in adversarial testing of LLM-based systems
Apply for this role

Senior Product Designer

DesignRemote · North America / EuropeFull time

Design interfaces for systems that carry real operational weight — exception queues, approval flows, security consoles — where clarity under pressure matters more than delight.

What we are looking for

  • Portfolio showing complex operational or data-dense interfaces
  • Fluency with design systems as code, and accessibility as a default
  • Comfort designing directly alongside engineers rather than handing over
Apply for this role

Engagement Lead

DeliveryRemote · North AmericaFull time

Own client outcomes end to end: scope, sequence, measure and report. This is a delivery role with commercial responsibility, not an account management role.

What we are looking for

  • Delivery leadership on complex enterprise technology programmes
  • Enough technical depth to challenge an architecture decision
  • Willingness to tell a client the honest thing early
Apply for this role

Growth Engineer

GrowthRemote · North America / EuropeFull time

Build the measurement, experimentation and content infrastructure behind client growth programmes — attribution that survives scrutiny and pages that convert.

What we are looking for

  • Technical marketing background: server-side tracking, data pipelines, CRM integration
  • Front-end capability with Next.js and a feel for performance
  • Scepticism about attribution models, expressed constructively
Apply for this role

None of these quite fit?

How hiring works

Four conversations. None of them free work.

We do not set unpaid take-home projects and we do not ask algorithm puzzles. Everything you do in our process is a real problem from our domain, worked through with someone who does the job.

  1. 0145 min

    Conversation

Forty-five minutes with someone who does the work. Two-way — bring hard questions.

  2. 0290 min

    Craft session

A real problem from our domain, worked through together. Not an algorithm quiz, and never unpaid project work.

  3. 0360 min

    Judgement session

A scenario with no clean answer. We want to see how you reason and how you disagree.

  4. 04≤ 5 days

    Offer

Decision within five working days of the last session, with the band and the reasoning explained.

Candidate questions

What people ask before applying

Still deciding?

Send the question to a senior engineer instead of a form. You will get a straight answer, and a no if that is the honest one.

Genuinely remote. We have no headquarters and no team is co-located, so nobody accumulates the informal advantage of being in a room. We gather in person once a quarter with travel covered, and those are worth flying for.

Flexible, with an expectation of overlap with your teammates and clients for a few hours a day. Two days a week are protected as meeting-light. We are strict about people being genuinely offline when they are off, including during on-call rotations that are compensated separately.

A meaningful amount, in every engineering role. Our model depends on the people who build the system also being the people who explain it. If you would rather never speak to a client, this will not suit you.

We hire employees where we have an entity and contractors elsewhere, both on the same salary bands. We do not currently sponsor visas, and we say that upfront rather than at offer stage.

Ninety minutes on a real problem from our domain — an agent that is failing an evaluation, a workflow with an ambiguous exception, an architecture with a cost problem. You work it through with one of our engineers. There is no correct answer we are waiting for; we are watching how you reason.

Benchmarked to the top quartile for the role and level, in published internal bands with no negotiation premium for being a confident negotiator. Reviewed annually. We tell you the band and the reasoning at offer.
